Focus on Your Audience
Generally, the content for websites you want to promote is about something you like or a product you want to sell. This makes it very easy for you to fall into the trap of talking about yourself too much. As much as you would like to probably think otherwise, your potential customers care very little about your feelings. They came to your blog looking for solutions to their own problems. They want information from you that they can apply to their own lives. You should always focus on your audience before writing about yourself. Instead of using the words "I" and "we," use "you" and "your."
Don't Use Too Many Adjectives
It is very easy for you to use multiple, extravagant adjectives when writing about something you want to promote because you want to make it seem as extraordinary as possible. However, if you start using too many adjectives your claims will seem over-the-top. In addition, sentences with a lot of adjectives tend to be pretty meaningless. Adjectives provide a description of nouns. They don't provide specific information. Instead of using a lot of adjectives, you should tell your readers how you are going to improve their lives. Using the occasional adjective is okay, but you do not want to go overboard with them.
Really Explain Things
When writing a blog, it is easy to make a lot of claims. For example, you might say something about your content being the best on the Internet. While this may be true, you aren't providing your audience any information about why you are the best. Instead of just making a claim, you need to explain to your audience why you are making the claim. You want to give your audience as much detailed information as possible to help them make decisions when copywriting your blog.
Make Your Writing Simple
Writing a blog post is different than writing a newspaper article. People have very short attention spans on the Internet. You need to make your sentences short and to the point. If it takes you too long to get into the useful details of your blog post, people will have already moved on. You should always use language that your readers will understand. Don't use a lot of big words. If you must use an uncommon word, make sure you define it for your readers.
Don't Repeat Yourself and Edit
You should not keep repeating the same information over and over again. You need to be succinct. Tell your readers exactly what they need to know and move on. In addition, make sure you edit what you write. Your readers will be turned off if you have a lot of errors in your writing.
